Beard Balm vs. Beard Oil – what's the difference?

With similar ingredients and uses, you may be wondering if you should be choosing a beard balm or a beard oil. So, what’s the difference?

Put simply, a beard oil is a quick and effortless way to lightly moisturize your face and beard. Appropriate to use on beards of all lengths, beard oils are particularly useful in the early stages of beard growth, as they can soften sharp hairs and reduce itchiness.

A beard balm, on the other hand, contains oils, butters, waxes that offer a deeper conditioning, and due to its viscosity, a balm has more of a slow-release effect. For this reason, beard balm is generally recommended for medium to long beards.
